INTRODUCTION
Foreigners have been visiting Myanmar and recording their observations in journals and books since at least the 6 century A.D.A survey of some of their comments serves to inform the visitor about the country and its people through the ages.
Myanmar is one of the more exotic countries in the world. Every tourist dreams of having at least one really beautiful country and here is a splendid opportunity to make it that dream come true.
Myanmar is the most profoundly Buddhist country in the world and land of astounding beauty and charm. Most of all foreigners stated that Myanmar is a paradise to discover a destination for discerning charms of the east in all its diversity-rich archaeological sites, glittering pagoda, a wealth of cultures, colourful festival and arts. This country is also blessed with and awe-inspiring range of natural sights-idyllic landscapes, lush fertile plains, vast virgin jungles, majestic snow capped mountains. Pine trees and sunflowers bathed in abundant sunshine.
Myanmar a large country is dominated by its great river, the Ayeyarwady, which irrigates the central plains and
are range after range of forest hills stretching towards China, and partly divided by the river Thanlwin. This is the area where many of the minority tribes such as the Shan. Kayar and
further north the Kachin live. To the west another difficult range is the
Rakhine divides the Ayeyarwaddy valley from the Bay of Bengal. The coastal area here is Rakhine division. The hills meet in basin lies within Myanmar, and the are some high peaks, culminating in Hkakaborazi (5.881m). Finally, a long tongue of hilly country called Taninthayi stretches down to the south. Almost the whole country is very fertile, with abundant rainfall and good soil. The plains are one great landscape of paddy fields, while the hills are heavily forested.
A journey through Myanmar is a journey through history- In the 9* century Bagan was the centre of a considerable empire which lasted until the Mongols are arrived. The great King's of Bagan built in profusion, and have left one of the most amazing sight in Asia, a plain along the bank of the Ayeyarway dotted with hundreds, and hundreds of temples and pagodas. The next Myanmar's kingdom was centred on
Mandalay and from the 14th century onwards these kings controlled all modern
Myanmar.
It was third kingdom which came into collision with British. In 1948 Myanmar gained its independence.
Climate
Myanmar enjoys a tropical climate with three distinct seasons. The wet season lasts from mid - May to mid October, the cool season from mid-October to mid- February, and the warm season from mid-February to mid-may.
PRATICAL INFORMATION
Passport & vias
A full passport is required. Tourist and business visa are not extend - able, business visa may be exteneded for 28 days. Apply to any Myanmar Embassy or Consulate, with three photos and passport, or apply through a travel agent who provide this service. The cost of a tourist visa is approximately US3 20- The cost of a business visa is approximately US$ 36.
Currency
Free individual tourist is obliged to exchange US$ 300 to 300 FEC before baggage and customs clearance, these can then be changed openly in hotels and many shops for local currency and can be spent directly in places. With the groups this exchange should not be enforced.
Airport Tax.
When leaving Myanmar by air an airport tax of FEC or US$ 10. Must be paid.
Group and Staff.
All groups will have a local English speaking guide or other language speaking
guide and a river.
Food and Accommodation
We use tourist class hotels staying in twin rooms with private facilities we will normally have twin rooms with private bathrooms. Food and accommodation included in the price. For meals breakfast lunch, dinner are included.
