Pyay ( Prome )
Pyay is located about 285 km north of Yangon, on the eastern bank of the Ayeyarwaddy, It is easily accessible by road or by rail which takes about 5 hours. A few kilometers north-east of the town is Thaye Khittaya (Sri
Ksetra), an archaeological site of the ancient Pyu capital (5th to 9th century). Shwesandaw Pagoda, Hsehtakyi Pagoda, Shwe Phone Pwint Museum, Bawbawgyi Pagoda, Bebegyi Pagoda, Payagyi and Payama Stupas are other places of interest in and around Pyay. There are many hotel with modern facilities for foreign visitors.

Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda
This mystical pagoda stands on a gold gilded boulder, precariously perched on the edge of the hill over 1100 km above sea-level. Kyaikhto, the town at the foot of the hill is about 160 km from Yangon. It is an 11 kilometer up-hill climb for the hikers from Kinpun base camp. There is also a steep winding road for 4 - wheel drive cars from the base to the nearest point of the pagoda. There are many legends about the Pagoda and the 'nats' or 'spirits'. Kyaikhto Hotel and Golden Rock Hotel have modern facilities for tourists.

Mrauk - U
This 15th century ancient city of Rakhine Kingdom is known for its old temples with wall paintings of Indian cultural influence. A regular passenger boat takes hours from Sittwe
(Akyab) to Mrauk - U Special speed boat with 20 seats takes only 2½hours. It is also accessible by road from Sittwe via Ponnakyun and
Kyauktaw. The Mahamuni Shrine, one of the famous Pagodas in Myanmar, is situated 30 km from Mrauk - U. There is a 24 room bungalow type hotel for tourists. Regular flights from Yangon to Sittwe takes about one hour 30 minutes. Shitthaung Pagoda, Dukkanthein Pagoda, Andawthein Shrine are some of the sites to seen in Mrauk - U.

Mawlamyine ( Moulmein )
Mawlamyine, a charming town, is the capital of Mon State, situated at the mouth of the Thanlwin River ( Salween River ). It is easily accessible by road and rail from Yangon. Sites to see in Mawlamyine are Kyaikthanlan Pagoda, Uzena Pagoda, Caves of Kawgoon and Payon, famous for its countless Buddha images, stalagmites and stalactites.
Kyaikkhami Pagoda, perched on the rocks by the sea and joined to the land by a covered causeway, is the main attraction.

Dawei ( Tavoy ), Myeik ( Mergui ) and Taninthayi, are the famous towns on the Taninthayi Coast ( Tennaserim ) which can be visited by guided tours with special permission.
Mogok
Mogok, known as Gems City, is some 115 km north - east of Mandalay. Myanmar rubies, sapphires and emeralds and other precious stones are mined in Mogok area. Only packaged tours are allowed to visit Mogok with special permission.
Lashio
It is a trading town in Northern Shan State, accessible by road from Mandalay. From Lashio, the famous Burma Road, built by the British before the War, intersects with Ledo Road leading into the Yunnan Province.
Muse
Muse, a small town on the banks of the Shweli River, is the mainborder gateway between Myanmar and Yunnan Province ( China ). Located 190 km from Lashio, it is a bustling trading centre. Muse Motel has modern facilities. Namkham and Kyukoke and nearby border towns.
Tachileik
Tachileik, located in the Golden Triangle Area, is the border gateway opposite Mae Sai in Thailand. It is accessible by air or by road; about 2 hours by air from Yangon to
Tachileik. The Golden Triangle Paradise Resort is located on the banks of the Mekong River facing Laos and Thailand.

Kyaing Tong
Kyaing Tong is the capital city of the Golden Triangle Region. It is only 170 km away from Tachileik and it takes 3 hours by 4WD or Sedans. There are many sites to see besides the ethnic tribes in colourful dresses. There are regular flight from Yangon to Kyaing Tong. Kyaing Tong Hotels ( old and new ) offer modern facilities at reasonable prices. Visitors are allowed to cross into this border town with Border Passes.

Myitkyina
Myitkyina is the largest town in Kachin State. From Myitkyina, visitors can tour the confluence ( Myitsone ) of Maikha and Malikha, the source of the Ayeyarwaddy River. There are regular flights from Yangon and Mandalay to
Myitkyina.

Puta - O
Puta - O is another town in Kachin State surrounded by
snow peaked mountains. It is cool the whole year round and there are many varieties of citrus fruits grown in the orchards. It is the nearest town to the base camp for climbing Mt. Khakhaborazi ( 5889 Metres ), which is the highest mountain in Myanmar and in Southeast Asia.

MYANMAR HIMALAYAS

Myanmar? We will take you to the Myanmar Himalayas which have been

Ward's writtings, Trekking to the base camp of Mt. Khakaborazi (5,881
m), the highest mountain in the South East Asia. Trekking to Pt.
Phonekanrazi (3,655 m) on the border of India and Myanmar, overlooking
magnificent Arunachal Pradesh in India and the range of Myanmar
mountains.

Lilimbing to Mt. Phangram (4.655 m) + Mt. Phonyin

Kawthaung
Formerly called Victoria Point, Kawthaung is the southern most town of Myanmar. From Ranong, a border town in Thailand, visitors can take 20 minute boat trips to kawthaung for sightseening and shopping. Andaman Club on the Thahtaykyun island is located west of Kawthaung. There are regular flights from Yangon to Kawthaung and Five Star Shipping Line operates Cruise vessel "M.V. Thanlwin" to
Kawthaung.
Eco - Tourism Site
The Wildlife Parks and Sanctuaries are Alaungdaw Kathapa National Park, Popa Mountain Park, Hlawga Wildlife Park, Shwesettaw Wildlife Sanctuary, Inlay Birds' Sanctuary, Moyingyi Wetland and Sein Ye Forest Camp are the most well known ecotourism sites.
